Starfish Spawning Underwater in Atlantic Ocean off Scottish Highlands

A rare sight, something I have only ever seen once in all my diving and swimming in open water. A starfish stood on top of a piece of kelp spawning in to the open ocean.

This was taken at Diabeg, Torridon area in the Scottish Highlands. One of my favourite dive spots in all of the West coast of Scotland. There were actually a few starfish spawning that day, visibility was great at about 8m+ and there were all sorts of other sealife from the shallows to the depths.

We saw hundreds of moon jellyfish, blue jellies (related to lions mane), dogfish, the remains of scallops, giant spiny starfish, orange and pink urchin hidden under rocks and overhangs and the most beautiful kelp fields.
